We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the first cohort of Napa Latine Doulas!
The trainings will be delivered in Spanish and THERE IS NO COST. This is a project to improve birth equity in our community and is funded by Providence’s Community Outreach Department. The partners on the project are Doula Doula, First 5 Napa County, Napa County HHSA, Communicare + Ole, Cope Family Center and Puertas Abiertas. Participants will develop skills, enroll as a Medi-Cal providers and serve their community as a Doulas.

The program starts with an online orientation on June 20th followed by three days of classroom training June 27th ( 5pm-9pm), 28th (10am-4pm) and 29th (10am-4pm). Then there are monthly check-ins. Professor Amy Brown, author of multiple books including The Positive Breastfeeding Book and Breastfeeding Uncovered, has researched breastfeeding, its impact on women, and how we can change things for the next generation of women. This book includes twenty years of research including an expansive study of over 3,000 women exploring experiences of infant feeding, and particularly how this can affect mental health and wellbeing. This lecture will explore breastfeeding grief, loss, or trauma and how we can change the conversation in support of the thousands of women who must stop the breastfeeding journey before they are ready.
